Taking Care of Your Trade Show Display

It's that time of year again. Trade show displays that need attention! The comments are always the same. "The magnetics are falling off the display". "The lamination is coming off". "There is a kink in the print". I see this year in and year out. Here are a few tips for keeping that laminated display in good working condition. So you have a display, in our case we normally see a ten foot by ten foot display. Four panels that measure in the neighborhood of twenty-eight inches by eighty-five inches or so. We laminate the fronts of the panels with a.4mil calendared lamination and the backs with a.10mil opaque block out lamination.
Most times these displays come in a handy traveling case. Tip number one is, always roll your graphics face in! We provide a plastic sleeve to protect the graphic, however you may not have this advantage. None the less, in all the banging around and mis-handling from others, protect the fronts of your graphics by rolling them face in! The second tip is to make sure there is plenty of room in the case for your graphics. Too many times I see panels that were rolled and shoved into the case only to find out that there was a light or cord and in one specific case a fish bowl in the bottom of the case. You can now clearly see why the edges of your graphics get kinked and bent. My third tip is to keep the graphics in a constant and regulated temperature. We've had many instances where clients let their displays sit in a hot van or car in the middle of summer for days on end. Only to wonder why their graphics are deformed and bubbling. The same is true for extreme cold as well.
Large trade show displays are costly and must be treated with care. I hope these tips will help preserve your display and save you from the expense of having to repair or worse case purchase a new display.
